It’s not over yet, Bruins fans.
The Boston Bruins have announced that Patrice Bergeron will return on a one-year contract worth $2.5 million, with performance bonuses totalling another $2.5 million.
Bergeron, 36, is coming off of a 65-point season with the Bruins, his 18th season with the club. Bergeron won the Selke Trophy this year, the fifth of his career.
In 1,216 games, Bergeron has amassed 400 goals and 982 points and should hit the 1,000-point mark early on during the 2022-23 campaign as a member of Boston’s top line.
Among other achievements, Bergeron has won the Stanley Cup, King Clancy award, Mark Messier Leadership Award and is a member of the Triple Gold club with wins at the World Championship, Olympics (twice), and, of course, the 2011 Stanley Cup.
