One of six players in OHL history to enter the League with exceptional rookie status, Shane Wright made his NHL debut with the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday night at the age of 18.
Selected by Seattle with the fourth overall pick of the 2022 NHL Draft, Wright comes off two seasons in Kingston resulting in a combined total of 71 goals, 89 assists and 160 points in 121 regular season games. The former OHL Rookie of the Year and OHL Cup champion scored a Fronts rookie record 39 goals during the 2019-20 season, and won gold with Canada’s National Under-18 Team in 2021.
Wright skated in 6:14 on Wednesday night in Anaheim as the Kraken fell by a score of 5-4 in overtime. It’s just the beginning for the Burlington, Ont. native, who was the highest-selected OHL player at last summer’s draft.
