Have you ever played a game of shinny where you throw the sticks in the center to make the teams? If so, have you ever had trouble telling your teammates apart from the opposition due to coats or jerseys of the same color?
The Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks almost experienced that problem on live TV, as we’ll explain more in this week’s edition of what caught our eye in the NHL.
Ducks Fly Together In 2022
The history of the Mighty Ducks movie and TV franchises has been laden with NHL cameos, and it stays true in Mighty Ducks: Game Changers.
On the latest episode of the Disney+ series, the new era of the Mighty Ducks is surprised in one of their practices when Anaheim’s Trevor Zegras, Troy Terry, and Max Jones join in for practice.
The best part has to be Zegras showing the Mighty Ducks how to pull off the ‘Dishigan’ play.
Hockey Hall Of Fame Legends Classic Turns Back the Clock
The Hockey Hall of Fame induction weekend is one of the staples of the hockey calendar. It provides fans, players, and media a fun trip down memory lane one more time with the Legends Classic game. Team Sundin and Team Lindros squared off at Scotiabank Arena on Sunday afternoon as members of the 2022 Hall of Fame class took to the ice with their peers.
Ever wanted to see Roberto Luongo (playing as a forward) score a goal and then hit the griddy afterward? This game made it happen. Although the game’s draw is nostalgia, the game is always filled with plenty of humorous moments you might not find in any other game.
The moves might need a little work, but who better to break it out than one of the most charismatic goaltenders in NHL history?
The Bruins and Canucks Perform an Unplanned Whiteout
Pre-game warmups, for the most part, are pretty uneventful, except for when both teams skate out in white jerseys, as was the case on Sunday.
The Boston Bruins skated out in their ‘Pooh Bear’ reverse retros, and Vancouver skated in their road white jerseys, producing this footage.
Whoops, indeed. Even funnier, Sunday was not a scheduled reverse retro night for Boston, and they soon afterward changed into their home jerseys for the game.
A white-on-white jersey game would have been quite the image, but you’d have to pray for the commentary teams and fans in the upper levels trying to figure out what was happening.
