ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Elmira College Men’s & Women’s Ice Hockey teams will be playing games at First Arena (155 N Main St, Elmira, NY 14901) in Downtown Elmira on January 30th and 31st following the Holiday Break.
The three-game slate over the Friday & Saturday leading up to the New Year’s will kick off with the men taking on Salve Regina at 7:00 PM. The Seahawks, who compete in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) carry a 4-3-1 record into the contest which included a win over the #9 ranked Nor’Easters from the University of New England on November 19. The Soaring Eagles carry a 2-1 record all time against Salve Regina, with its last win coming at the Murray Athletic Center in 2017 when Elmira picked up a 5-2 win over the #14 ranked Seahawks.
Saturday, the women kick off New Years Eve with a contest against the #13 ranked Continentals from Hamilton College at 1:00 PM. The 9-4-0 Soaring Eagles have posted an 11-0 record against Hamilton all-time dating back to 2003, with its last matchup being played in 2014. The 2014 contest featured two first period goals from Brooke Wilgosh ’15 & Ashton Hogan ’15 and was enough for Elmira to secure a 2-1 victory in Clinton, New York.
Following the women, the men will be in action once again taking on the #14 ranked Mules from Colby College at 4:00 PM. Elmira has matched up with Colby just once, recording a 5-4 win during the 1996-97 season on the road.
Each of the men’s games, which will be held in conjunction with Hobart College who will also be taking on Colby & Salve Regina, are being played as part of the Hockey Helper’s Shootout. Men’s Ice Hockey will be selling Forever26 t-shirts at Saturday’s game in honor of Billy Lowe, the Elmira native who lost his life at the age of 15 following a cardiac event. Billy continued his legacy post-life by becoming an organ donor to help others live longer lives.

Elmira College will be providing live video and commentary of all three games. Fans who are unable to attend First Arena can view the game through the Empire 8 Network which can be viewed through mobile and tablet devices.
