Women’s Ice Hockey Recognized as Twin Tiers College Team of the Year

ELMIRA, N.Y. – Coming off of their eighth national championship appearance during the 2023-24 season, the Elmira College women’s ice hockey team was recognized on Thursday evening by WETM 18 Sports during the 8th Annual Twin Tiers Sports Awards as College Team of the Year. 

Sponsored by Choice Auto Glass, other finalists for the award included the Cornell men’s wrestling team, who finished runner-up in the NCAA Tournament this past season. Additionally, another Elmira College team was recognized as a finalist, with the men’s soccer team capturing their first Empire 8 Championship this past season before advancing to the 2024 Division III NCAA Tournament. Finally, the Corning Community College softball team was named a finalist after finishing 5th in the NJCAA National Championship. 

Finishing 23-8-1, the Soaring Eagles earned their second trip to the Final Four in the past three seasons, where they knocked off 2022 National Champion, Middlebury College, in the semifinals before advancing to the championship game against the host, University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
