Golden Knights Handle Capitals, Rangers and Canes Cover as Favourites in Sunday Best Bets

by admin

Sunday has a condensed slate of NHK action with just four games sepread throughout the day. Despite this, we still have found some excellent options for our Best bets to continue our hot streak started by the Leafs impressive overtime win on Saturday.

All betting lines are from Bet365 and are subject to change. Hockey is a difficult sport to predict so please gamble responsibly.

Bet: Hurricanes -1.5 (-120), Blues Hurricanes Under 6.5 goals (-140)

To win both games of a back-to-back is very hard to do and the Hurricanes and Blues are both looking to do so Sunday but St. Louis will have the much tougher task of attempting to win two road games. They are coming off an impressive 3-2 come-from-behind overtime win versus the Bruins on Saturday.

Many people may not know but the St. Louis Blues are one of the best gambling teams in the NHL with a 12-6 record against the spread this season. They’ve covered in six of their last eight games and are getting plus money odds still. This is because they play the Hurricanes Sunday, who have an even better success rate on the puck line at 11-5 on the season.

The Blues have won two of their last three matchups versus the Hurricanes but if you go further than that, Carolina has won four of their last six matchups all by multiple goals. Sunday’s game will also be played in Carolina, where they have covered in 13 of their last 20 home games, including six straight wins.

The Hurricanes will have the advantage in goal, as they’ll be able to rely on the dependable Pyotr Kochetkov, who reps an 8-2-0 record and a solid 2.56 goals-against average while the Blues will have to stick with Joel Hofer, who has a winning record but struggles with a 3.33 goals-against average. It should be an impressive showing from the Hurricanes as they shut down the Blues convincingly.

Bet: Golden Knights ML (-125), Ivan Barbashev Over 0.5 points (+115)

The Capitals and Golden Knights are two of four teams playing on Sunday that aren’t playing a back-to-back and they will look to bring the intensity in a rematch of the 2018 Stanley Cup Finals. It’s been six years and still these two teams are competitive with virtually the same record at 11 wins and four losses a piece. Vegas is riding a two-game winning streak with both wins coming on the road which normally isn’t their forte.

The Golden Knights love playing in their own building as they boast a 8-1-0 home record which is tied with the Winnipeg Jets for best in the league. If you want to look back further, they have the third-best home record since last season at 35-13-2 sitting only behind the Jets and Avalanche. The Capitals have shown they can hang with the big dogs after being the Avalanche in their own building with a resounding 5-2 win on Friday.

If Washington can manage two straight road wins against two of the top three best home teams in the league, I would be very surprised considering the Capitals have never won a game in the Sin City. The Golden Knights have won all six of their meeting with the Capitals in Vegas and have done so convincingly with a +14 goal differential.

Vegas Forward Jack Eichel leads the way for the Golden Knights with 27 points in 17 games this season and also has 54 points over his last 41 home games. His odds are very high but we look to siphon on his production with Ivan Barbashev, who plays on his wing and his third on the team in points with 17 in as many games this season.

Bet: Rangers -1.5 (+135), Rangers Kraken Under 6.0 goals (-110)

The Kraken give us a fairly close betting line in this one since they are riding a four-game winning streak. They extended the streak on Saturday afternoon when they overcame a 2-1 deficit in the third period to win 3-2 over the Islanders. They now host another New York team with this one being much better.

The Rangers are 5-1-0 on the road this season and have lost just once in six matchups all-time versus Seattle. The loss came in overtime which means the Rangers have never lost to the Kraken in regulation. These will be tough numbers for the Kraken to overcome as the Rangers also won by multiple goals in four of their five wins. Sunday may add to this history as the Kraken will be forced to start netminder Philip Grubauer, who has a 1-5-0 record and a 3.27 goals against average this season.

Seattle has won a majority of their games in their current winning streak with their offence as they’ve scored three or more goals in five straight games. Grubauer starting and the recent hot Kraken offence has 87 per cent of the bets on the game’s total being over six goals. New York has one of the best goaltenders in the world with Igor Shesterkin and he should take care of business, holding the game to the under.
