The 2022-23 Premier Hockey Federation player pool has a record 21 international players from seven different countries, plus four players who have represented their international heritage in competition. 15 PHF talents from this group have come together for the All-Star showcase.
Here’s a closer look at the PHF Team World All-Stars:
1 EVELIINA MÄKINEN (MET) G
Two-time Olympic bronze medalist with Finland won her PHF debut Nov. 27 against Montreal.
“Eve is very fundamentally sound, smooth skating goalie who has a very high level of compete in her game. She reads the game well, excels at handling the puck and is a great communicator on the ice.” – Riveters head coach Venla Hovi.
4 TAYLOR BAKER (MON) D
Member of Hungarian National Women’s Team scored first PHF goal Jan. 22 against Boston.
“Taylor Baker is a revelation. She joined us late and she earned everything she has. She’s unapologetic, strong and talented. Her attitude towards the game is what we envisioned for this team. She is without a doubt our biggest coup.” – Force president Kevin Raphael.
5 ANNA KILPONEN (MET) D
2014 Finnish Olympian began the season with six assists in first seven games.
“Anna is a pure reflection of a hard working, humble Finnish defense. Her strengths are seen best in corners when she is battling and boxing out players in front of the net. She is constantly building on her offensive game and is able to filter pucks through from the blue line.” – Riveters head coach Venla Hovi.
8 LEAH LUM (TOR) F
Member of the Chinese National Women’s Team at the 2022 Beijing Olympics began PHF career with five points in four games.
12 EBBA BERGLUND (MET) D
Represented Sweden at the 2022 Olympics picked up first career PHF point Jan. 15 against Minnesota.
“Ebba is an elite skater with a wealth of knowledge at the international level with team Sweden. Despite her smaller frame, she plays big and physical and is strong in battles. She has the potential to jump rushes and skate the puck if needed. Fit, selfless, lead by example player.” – Riveters head coach Venla Hovi.
15 MINTTU TUOMINEN (MET) D
The three-time Olympic bronze medallist with Finland is tied for the PHF lead with three power play goals.
“A leader with an extended amount of experience. 4-time Olympian and a stellar 2-way defense. Minttu never takes a break at practice or games and holds her whole team accountable on and off the ice. Has the loudest laugh I have ever heard and the best snapshot technique in the league. Hard to play against.” – Riveters head coach Venla Hovi.
16 KATEŘINA MRÁZOVÁ (CTW) F
Team World captain and Czech Olympian has 15 points in 15 games in her return to the PHF since debuting in 2018-19.
“Katerina is aggressive on the puck and has great net front presence. She has the ability to control the puck and pace in the offensive zone and continually looks to set up scoring opportunities. Never one to shy away from a battle for possession, Katerina wins puck battles, gets her head up, and finds a way to make something happen.” – Whale general manager Alexis Moed.
16 EMMA NUUTINEN (BUF) F
2018 Olympic bronze medalist is ranks second on the Beauts in shots on goal.
“I don’t know that I have worked with a player before who has had a better combination of pure skill and sheer strength as Emma Nuutinen. It’s no surprise that she is a two-time Olympian. Emma can do things with a puck and her level of drive that I’ve never seen anyone else do before.” – Beauts general manager Nate Oliver.
21 TEREZA VANIŠOVÁ (TOR) F
Czech Olympian at the 2022 Winter Games was a two-time Isobel Cup champion with Boston before joining T6.
“Tereza is a very exciting player to watch. She has scored some very exciting goals and is fun to watch in action. Being from the Czech, she brings that international fun, and is a quiet leader on the team. Tereza works hard on the ice and is a very skilled forward.” – T6 head coach Geraldine Heaney.
23 ANTONIA MATZKA (BUF) D
Austrian joined Beauts after graduating from Vermont and scored the team’s first goal of the season.
“Toni wears her heart on her sleeve. She has exceeded our expectations for a rookie defender. Toni is crucial for the Beauts penalty-kill and power play, and her hockey smarts are truly unique.” – Beauts head coach Rhea Coad.
37 ANETA TEJRALOVÁ (BOS) D
Olympian scored overtime goal for Czechia in 2022 World Championship quarter-final against Finland en route to historic bronze medal finish.
“Tej has been an incredible addition to our defensive core. Her hockey sense and ability to play the puck is next to none. On multiple occasions, she has made a defensive play that no one even thought was possible. There is no doubt that Tej belongs on the All-Star roster and will do great things.” – Pride general manager Maddie Rigsby.
41 DENISA KŘÍŽOVÁ (MIN) F
Olympian from Czechia has four goals this season with Minnesota, returning to the league after playing for Boston in 2018-19.
“Denny is a player that loves to have the puck on her stick around the net. She will finish every puck in practice no matter what. She goes hard everywhere and is someone who we can rely on to play different roles when needed.” – Whitecaps head coach Ronda Engelhardt.
47 LENKA SERDAR (CTW) F
The Czech-American scored her first career PHF goal on Friday night in Whale win over the Force.
“New to the Whale and league, Lenka shows great promise and tenacity. Her speed and grit make her an offensive threat who generates opportunity and points. Her hard back checking makes her a disruption to the opposing offense in our defensive zone.” – Whale general manager Alexis Moed.
94 FANNI GASPARICS (MET) F
Mainstay on the Hungarian National Women’s Team with tenure as captain has nine points in 16 PHF games.
“Fanni always wants the puck which shows her confidence and skillset. She is a very versatile player and can be paired up with any player. She is always looking to attack the net and holds herself up to high standards.” – Riveters head coach Venla Hovi.
96 DOMINIKA LÁSKOVÁ (TOR) D
Led all defenders with four goals at the 2021 World Championship before representing Czechia at the 2022 Olympics and winning bronze at 2022 IIHF.
“Dominika is the fun person in the dressing room. She is a good motivator off the ice, and a very talented hockey player. She can be relied on to play different positions; we can count on her to play defence if needed on the power play, so she’s another player that we heavily rely on.” – T6 head coach Geraldine Heaney.
PHF Team World is coached by international hockey stars Erika Holst and Venla Hovi, and All-Stars goaltending coach Brianna McLaughlin-Bittle.
