Prior to Sunday afternoon’s 4-3 overtime win over the London Knights, the Guelph Storm recognized and thanked longtime Rogers TV broadcaster Steve Fitzsimmons.
The Guelph Storm and several teams across the OHL are proud to partner with Rogers Television to deliver the best junior hockey in the world to fans with first-class broadcasters in front of the camera and behind the scenes.
For 21 years including three OHL Championships and thousands of unforgettable moments along the way, Steve’s voice delivered energy, knowledge and excitement to Storm broadcasts and Sunday’s game marked his final call in Guelph as he embarks on a new chapter in his professional career in Truro, Nova Scotia.
On behalf of the Storm and our fans, team Vice President, Matt Newby presented a cheque in the amount of $1,000 to Steve’s charity of choice – Pevs Protects and a custom Storm jersey to recognize Steve’s long-time commitment to the Storm and our league.
Fittingly, Steve’s run with the Storm was capped off with an overtime goal by Jake Karabela who grew up in Guelph and would have been one of the lucky fans that heard many years of great Storm moments with Steve’s voice as the soundtrack.
Rogers TV, the OHL, the Storm and our fans wish Steve nothing but the best in this new chapter of your life and thank you for your commitment to our team and our league.
