Frank Seravalli doesn’t think a Corey Perry decision is imminent: Leafs Morning Take

by

The Toronto Maple Leafs will put their four-game win streak on the line as John Tavares makes his 13th career visit to Long Island.

If anything, this game could act as a nice simulation for the Maple Leafs of life on the road in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Rest assured, they’re going to be fired up and hostile at UBS Arena —there’s no question about that.

We kicked off the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take by discussing Corey Perry. After a quiet past month and a half or so, it seems like business is picking up once again on that front. The veteran free agent has been linked to the Maple Leafs for years, and it may finally come to fruition. We’ll see what happens.

Presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer focused on some lineup notes ahead of Toronto’s stop on Long Island. After taking a nasty spell in practice on Wednesday, it appears Matthew Knies has avoided serious injury and is expected to play. Meantime, it looks like Nick Robertson, who potted a goal in Monday night’s 7-1 rout of San Jose, will be a healthy scratch once again with Noah Gregor back in the mix. Also, Ilya Samsonov will back-up Martin Jones.

After that, courtesy the Wendy’s Daily Faceoff Survivor, we broke down the matchup with the Islanders. This will be Toronto’s second visit to UBS Arena. Back on December 11th, John Tavares notched his 1000th point —albeit in a 4-3 OT loss. The Leafs will look to make it five in a row as they square off with Ilya Sorokin.

Lastly, thanks to our friends over at BATL Axe, Frank Seravalli stopped by to discuss a variety of different topics. We hit on the plausibility of Corey Perry landing in Toronto, William Nylander’s extension, and what the Leafs could be looking to do on the trade front over the next few months.

Join us at 11 AM ET on Friday for another jam-packed edition of Leafs Morning Take. We’ll recap Leafs/Isles, plus look ahead to Toronto’s back-to-back on home this weekend against Colorado and Detroit, respectively. Also, former Leaf John-Michael Liles will join us.
