Islanders GM Lou Lamoriello has been named a finalist for the Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award in the NHL, the league announced on Thursday.

Aside from Lamoriello, the Montreal Canadiens’ Marc Bergevin and Florida Panthers’ Bill Zito are the the candidates.

Lamoriello’s squad is once again a series away from the Stanley Cup Final, and a lot of that has been due to his offseason roster construction and in-season trades.

The most notable move came before the trade deadline when he called on his former Devils team to create a package involving Travis Zajac and Kyle Palmieri, both of which have been pivotal pieces to their playoff run.

With Barry Trotz at the helm, Lamoriello has given him everything he could want with depth on both ends of the ice to work with.
