Marc Staal is officially retiring as a player, but will still be hanging around the NHL community.
Now that his playing days are over, Staal will be returning to the New York Rangers as a player development assistant.
Staal played the first 13 seasons of his career with the Rangers. Through his extended time in New York, he recorded 43 goals, 145 assists and 188 points in 892 games.
The 37-year-old played 17 seasons in the NHL for the Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers and Philadelphia Flyers.
In his 17 years, Staal tallied 53 goals, 181 assists and 234 points in 1136 NHL games.
While Staal is entering a new chapter of his life and career, he is going back to where it all began, something pretty wholesome to think about.
