Former Islanders forward Kyle Okposo announces retirement from NHL

Kyle Okposo, originally a first-round pick of the Islanders in the 2006 NHL Draft, has called it a career, announcing his retirement after 17 seasons in the NHL.

After making his debut during the 2007-08 season, Okposo went on to play 529 regular season games with the Islanders, scoring 139 goals while adding 230 assists.

His best season on the Island came in 2013-14, when he scored a career-best 27 goals and added 42 assists while earning an All-Star nod.

Okposo also played eight seasons in Buffalo, and finished his career by winning a Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers in 2023-24, playing in 17 playoff games after appearing in just six regular season games.
