The Vegas Golden Knights have signed Shea Theodore to a mega seven-year, $7.425M AAV contract extension.
The contract will keep Theodore with the Golden Knights until 2031-32 season and pay him a total of $51,975,000. The 29-year-old is in his eighth season with the Golden Knights and is off to a hot start scoring a goal and seven points in his first six games.
Theodore’s the franchise leader in goals, assists and points among defensemen, scoring 67 goals, and 229 assists for 296 points in 496 games.
The original misfit is one of the best offensive defensemen in the NHL and is locked in alongside Noah Hanifin, Alex Pietrangelo and Zach Whitecloud for a number of years.

Many insiders and fans believed that there was a possibility that Theodore could have been moved in the past offseason. Once Jonathan Marchessault and Chandler Stephenson walked in free agency, the likeliness of Theodore re-signing with the Golden Knights increased.
The organization prides itself in being one of the best defensive teams and having one of the best blue lines in the NHL and Theodore plays a critical role. The deal encapsulates the wonderful relationship the Golden Knights and Theodore have had.
