The Brantford Bulldogs lineup just got a whole lot better as they strive to contend for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

The organization received a big boost when Ottawa Senators prospect Tomas Hamara was loaned back to the team last week. The Bulldogs are getting an even bigger boost with a fellow Czech native making his way to the OHL.

On Tuesday, the Brantford Bulldogs’ GM, Matt Turek, announced the re-assignment of import defenseman Adam Jiricek.

With one open import spot remaining on their roster, the organization now has both of its import spots filled by Czech defenders, Tomas Hamara and Adam Jiricek.

“The Brantford Bulldogs are extremely excited to be able to bring a player of Adam’s character and talent to Brantford,” said Bulldogs GM Matt Turek.

“Adam is an elite talent, as represented by his first-round NHL selection, who immediately adds a dynamic presence to our team. Adam is a player who can excel at both ends of the ice and will add to all facets of our game. Beyond his presence on the ice, Adam has already gained a reputation as a tremendous teammate & character who we feel will fit right in with and add to our group in Brantford.”

It was rumored in the summertime that Jiricek was going to relocate and play out his 2024-25 season in the OHL with Brantford.

Jiricek, 18, is the younger brother of Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman David Jiricek. He was selected 16th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft and has been recovering from a knee injury he suffered back at the 2024 World Juniors.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound right-shot defenseman began his professional playing career at 16 years old for HC Plzen in the Czech Extraliga. Brantford fans will immediately be amazed at his skating and how smooth and quick he moves north/south and east/west.

Jiricek was looked at as one of the top defense prospects for the most recent NHL Draft before he suffered his season-ending injury. He was electric at the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup for Team Czechia where he captured a silver medal.

With the acquisition of Jiricek, Brantford now has seven NHL-drafted prospects on their roster, three of which are defensemen — Tomas Hamara (Ottawa), Owen Protz (Montreal), and Adam Jiricek (St. Louis).
