Alumni: Defender Re-Signs With the Blackhawks

by admin

The Chicago Blackhawks have signed restricted free agent defenseman Louis Crevier to a one-year, two-way contract worth $0.775 million.

Crevier, 23, spent the majority of last season with the Rockford IceHogs, the Blackhawks AHL affiliate, notching 11 points (3+8) in 41 games with a +11.

The 6-foot-8 defender also appeared in his first 24 career NHL games with the Hawks last season, adding three assists. He has yet to score his first NHL goal.

Crevier was a former seventh round pick in the 2020 draft, taken at the 177th pick by the Blackhawks after being passed on by all 31 teams in the 2019 draft.

Before turning pro, Crevier got his start in the QMJHL with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens and the Quebec Remparts, where he played 191 games, etching 75 points (26+49) whilst meriting a +66.

It’s unsure whether Crevier will be ready to make the full time jump to the NHL, hence the two-way deal, but he’ll likely be on speed dial should any member of the Blackhawks D-corps miss time.
