Avalanche Release Forward Pierre-Edouard Bellemare From His PTO

by admin

The Colorado Avalanche today announced that they have released Pierre Edouard Bellemare from his PTO.

Bellemare, 39, was hoping to earn a spot on the Avs roster in what would have been his 10th NHL season.

Bellemare was looking to prove to the Avalanche brass that he could still be an effective player on the 4th line, but it appears as though the Avs may give a look to former Senator Parker Kelly, Ivan Ivan or Calum Ritchie, who the Avalanche selected 27th overall in the 2023 NHL draft.

Where Bellemare goes from here is unknown, but there is a chance that this could be the end of the road for Bellemares’ NHL career.

The undrafted Bellemare started his NHL career with the Phildelphia Flyers in the 2014-2015 season after spending the prior 8 years in Sweden playing mostly for Skelleftea AIK in the Swedish Elite League.

Bellemares’ best season in the NHL came during the 2019-2020 season while playing for the Avalanche when scored 9 goals and 22 points. Bellemare was also part of the Tampa Bay Lightning team that ended up losing to the Avalanche in the Stanley Cup Finals, playing in all 23 games for the Bolts during their run to the finals.

If this is indeed the end of the road for Bellemare in the NHL, he finishes his career with a total of 700 games played, scoring 64 goals, 74 assists and 138 points during that time.
