The St. Louis Blues have announced they’ve signed former QMJHL forward Nikita Alexandrov to a one-year, two-way contract. This contract will see his NHL salary amount to $775,000 and his AHL salary amount to $150,000.
The Blues selected Alexandrov the 62nd pick in the 2019 NHL draft. He was on a professional tryout (PTO) with the Blues at the time of this signing.
In 51 NHL regular season games, Alexandrov scored three goals and nine points. He currently doesn’t have any postseason experience with the Blues, who have missed the postseason for two straight years.
Alexandrov spent all three QMJHL seasons with the Charlottetown Islanders, who selected him with the 50th overall pick in the 2017 CHL import draft. He put up 63 goals and 146 points in 172 regular season games, including a team-leading 23 goals and 54 points in 42 games in his final QMJHL season. He also added 11 goals and 24 points in 24 postseason games.
Although Alexandrov is born in Germany, he represented Russia internationally in the 2020 World Junior Championships, where he put up two goals and eight points in seven games.
Following a loan to Finland and some time with the Utica Comets in the AHL after his QMJHL days, Alexandrov finally joined the Blues’ own AHL affiliate club in Massachusetts.
Since his time with the Springfield Thunderbirds, Alexandrov scored 34 goals and 75 points in 115 regular season games, as well as two goals and 10 points in 20 postseason games.
