Former Sharks player, scout Bryan Marchment dies at 53 originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea
Former Sharks defenseman and longtime scout Bryan Marchment died Wednesday. He was 53 years old.
The Sharks and the NHL both released statements about Marchment’s passing.
Christina Marleau, wife of Sharks legend Patrick Marleau, described how much Marchment meant to their family.
Former Sharks GM Doug Wilson and his wife, Kathy, shared their thoughts as well.
Marchment played 334 games with the Sharks across parts of six seasons from 1997-98 to 2002-03. He compiled 13 goals and 53 assists in his Sharks tenure. He had a 17-year career which included stints with eight other teams, totaling 40 goals and 142 assists.
Marchment spent his post-playing career as a member of the Sharks’ scouting department, working for fifteen years in the organization’s front office. He was in Montreal preparing for the NHL draft when he died.
