The Carolina Hurricanes have announced that they have released forwards Sam Gagner and Rocco Grimaldi from their PTOs.
Gagner, 35, came to Carolina looking to hopefully land one more chance in the NHL after he saw his role greatly diminish last year with the Edmonton Oilers.
A veteran of over 1,000 games, this might be the end of the line for Gagner.

Grimaldi, 31, had been a AHL/NHL tweener for the majority of his career, but had only played in the AHL the last two seasons.
However, the small forward has been a prolific scorer in the American League with 175 goals and 370 points in 433 games.
Hopefully he’ll be able to find a spot somewhere, but the AHL veteran rules do make things complicated for him.
