Just like that, the Maple Leafs are rolling.
Suddenly, Toronto’s riding a seven-game point streak (5-0-2) and they’ve notched at least a point in 11 of their past 12 outings.
This team is something.
Jay Rosehill was back in the mix for the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take, where obviously, we were in a joyous mood after what went down at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Tuesday night.
Presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer focused on the conclusion of the two-game dads’ trip. Auston Matthews notched two goals and two assists while Martin Jones turned aside 28 shots in his first start with the team. All around, it was by far the most impressive victory of the season for Sheldon Keefe’s squad. They were absolutely dialled in. For a change, they didn’t blow the lead —although things got a bit hairy in the second period for a bit.
Meantime, courtesy our friends over at BATL Axe, TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger stopped by for a chat. Firstly, we got his thoughts on Toronto’s spicy 7-3 win against the Rangers. After that, we dove into some trade talk and speculation. What’s Brad Treliving been up to? We tackled it all.
Additionally, thanks to Charm Diamond Centres, we took our weekly look at the Atlantic Division standings. Unsurprisingly, the Leafs’ recent surge has catapulted them up the standings. It’s funny how quickly things can change in the NHL world. The sky’s no longer falling in Toronto —at least for now.
Join us on Thursday at 11 AM ET as we preview Toronto’s tilt at Scotiabank Arena with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Also, former Leaf Nick Kypreos, the host of Real Kyper and Bourne on Sportsnet 590 The Fan, will make his first appearance of the season on the show.
