The next few days are expected to be utterly chaotic around the NHL.
In case you missed it, we’ve taken our talents on the road. Through Friday, Leafs Morning Take is being broadcasted LIVE from Stadium Swim in Las Vegas, the site of the 2024 NHL Draft.
We’re not messing around!
Anthony Stewart – on location – filled in for Jay Rosehill on the Wednesday edition. We kicked off the show by submitting an all-encompassing scene setter. First and foremost, it’s hot, very hot. And I’m not talking about the Mitch Marner trade rumours either. It’s final centralized draft, and on top of that, it’s being held at the world-renowned Sphere. You know something wild’s going to go down! From a Toronto perspective, there’s no telling where things will go leading up to free agency on Monday. There are so many moving parts, so naturally, we talked about the various scenarios. Most importantly, there seems to be a lot of movement around the Leafs in the Atlantic Division. At some point, they’ll need to react accordingly. Simply put, Brad Treliving has his work cut out for himself this week as we all wait for the first domino to drop.
Presented by Greta Bar YYZ, we got into some of the specifics from around the league on Tuesday. What’s Steve Yzerman and the Red Wings up to? That was the big question in the hockey world after Detroit freed up even more cap space when they inexplicably packaged blueliner Jake Walman with a second-round pick to San Jose in exchange for future considerations. Something’s brewing there.
Meantime, The Fourth Period’s David Pagnotta joined us on set on discuss the very latest. We hit on Mitch Marner, Joseph Woll, free agency, and what the Leafs could possibly have up their sleeves in Vegas.
He won’t be on location, but Jay Rosehill will be back in the mix for the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take. Join us at 2 PM ET/ 11 AM PT for an extensive draft preview show. The Leafs are tentatively slated to draft 23rd overall in Round 1 on Friday night. Daily Faceoff draft guru Steven Ellis will be by, so will Matt Larkin.
