A strong finish cast the Detroit Red Wings’ first multi-game trip of the season in better standing.
Their third-period outburst Monday at UBS Arena came after the New York Islanders had taken a two-goal lead. Lucas Raymond completed the rally when he scored at 1:25 of overtime, giving the Wings a 4-3 victory and ending a winless skid at three.
Ville Husso came through with 25 saves through two periods, delivering a second straight topnotch performance. Daniel Sprong broke Ilya Sorokin at 7:55 of the third period, and Jake Walman followed up at 9:35.
J.T. Compher added a goal at 11:43, the first time on this two-game trip, which began Saturday in Boston, that the Wings had a lead. Moritz Seider assisted on Compher’s and Walman’s goals.
The Wings (6-3-1) salvaged two points from a trip that began with a 4-1 dud to the Bruins.
What happened: Technical issues mean no Red Wings on Bally Sports app, and viewers aren’t happy
The Islanders looked like they were in command when Brock Nelson made it 2-0 early in the third period. The Wings had gotten dinged with 1:21 to play in the second period, giving up a shorthanded goal to Casey Cizikas. Defenseman Noah Dobson, a first-round pick from 2018 (No. 12) who has posted back to back performances in the high-30s points range, assisted on Nelson’s and Horvat’s goals.
The Islanders were able to tie it at 3-all at 15:49, when Bo Horvat converted while David Perron was in the penalty box.
When the game on Monday night began, it was unavailable on the Bally Sports Detroit app.
A message posted on BSD’s social media account on X, formerly Twitter, explained why viewers could not see the evening’s game at the New York Islanders via the app.
“Our service provider experienced a widespread outage that impacted multiple partners. As it comes back online, signing in to Bally Sports will be impacted. We are currently working with our service provider on resolving this issue. We apologize and thank you for your patience.”
Greg Hammaren, senior vice president/GM of Bally Sports, provided an update to the Free Press shortly after 8 p.m.
“We were cruising along right on schedule until we were informed that the highly regarded third party identity service called Okta is currently experiencing a widespread outage and preventing users from logging in to our service,” Hammaren said in an email. “This outage is impacting a variety of high level companies (NBA, Ticketmaster, etc) that are all experiencing similar issue.
“We are in contact with Okta as they troubleshoot their issue.”
The issues also affected the Detroit Pistons game against the Oklahoma Thunder, which was on BSDET Extra.
