Now one of the most skilled teams in the NHL, the Devils boast talents like Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, Dougie Hamilton, and newly acquired goaltender Jacob Markstrom.
This past off-season, GM Tom Fitzgerald worked hard to improve their forward group, adding depth and strengthening their defense. The goaltending tandem of Markstrom and Jake Allen may be the team’s most improved area.
Last season, the Devils took a step back after their success in the 2022–23 playoffs, where they clinched a playoff spot and defeated the New York Rangers in the first round.
This year, expectations are even higher.
Every year, insiders and on-air talent at Sportsnet predict who will win the Stanley Cup.

Of the 20 voters this year, 16 chose the Edmonton Oilers to win after their loss to the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final. Three picked either the Dallas Stars or Panthers, while Matt Marchese selected the Devils to hoist the Cup.
Although these predictions don’t guarantee anything, Devils fans have plenty to look forward to this season.
