Joel Edmundson is now a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
And incredibly, the deal broke while the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take was on the air. On top of that, it happened during our interview with Elliotte Friedman. Talk about a perfect storm. Love it.
At any rate, we kicked off the show – this was before the trade broke – by discussing the deadline a bit. The past few days have been nuts. Will there be anything to discuss on Friday? We hope so! For what it’s worth, the Maple Leafs may not be done.
Presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer focused on Toronto’s 2-1 OT win against Buffalo on Wednesday night. Auston Matthews notched the GWG and Ilya Samsonov made 24 stops. William Nylander was outstanding. The Leafs finished their five-game homestand 3-2-0. It was a low event game. It wasn’t pretty, but they got the job done. They pulled it out. That’s all that matters.
Meantime, brought to you by Tim Hortons, as mentioned, NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman dropped by the show. Before the Edmundson show broke, we talked about who the Leafs could be targeting. Friedge did mention Edmundson. He also said that Toronto continues to look for a depth forward. All in all, it was fascinating to document the entire situation on our show.
For our weekly Great Clips segment, we were asked about the Edmundson trade and if we think the Leafs could do more. There’s plenty of time left ahead of the deadline. At this point, would it be surprising if they got another blue liner? Probably not. Maybe Brad Treliving’s big game hunting?
Thanks to the Wendy’s Daily Faceoff Survivor, we previewed Toronto’s big clash in Boston. The Leafs have dropped six in a row overall to the Bruins —including a 4-1 decision on Monday night at Scotiabank Arena.
REMINDER: We won’t in our regular time slot on Friday. Join us at 3:30 PM ET for a full recap of all the wheeling and dealing.
