In 2018, it felt like a miracle when Filip Zadina fell to sixth overall to the Detroit Red Wings.
Now, to Red Wings fans, it feels like a bad memory.
He never got it going with the Wings, maxing out below the 25 point threshold, and the bad blood didn’t help when Zadina asked for his release from the team to seek a new opportunity.
He would sign with the Sharks for last season and would at least dress for over 70 games, but his production nor icetime saw an increase.
Now he hopes to get that chance in Buffalo as according to reports out of Czechia, the 25-year old left winger will join the Sabres on a PTO.

Long before his 262-game, 91-point (41+50) NHL career thus far, he was a standout with the Halifax Mooseheads, potting 82 points (44+38) across 57 games with the club in the 2017-18 season.
With totals like that, it was no surprise he got drafted so high.
Hopefully the struggling scorer can earn a spot in the Sabres lineup, and better yet realize some of that potential that teams across the league saw in him long ago.
