Flint, Mich. – The Flint Firebirds announced today that Dave McParlan has been named the team’s new Assistant General Manager.
“We’re happy to welcome Dave (McParlan) back to the Flint Firebirds organization”, said Head Coach & GM Ted Dent. “He has a great track record of success in this league. We believe his experience will be a great addition to our team as we look forward to building towards another successful season here in Flint.”
McParlan was the Director of Scouting for the Firebirds from 2015-to-18. Prior to that, he was a scout for the Plymouth Whalers for nearly a decade, serving as the Director of Scouting during their final season in 2014-15.

Notable Firebirds/Whalers selections under McParlan’s tenure include current Dallas Stars forwards Nick Caamano, Tyler Seguin and Ty Dellandrea, Washington Capitals forward Tom Wilson, Vancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller and former Firebirds Ethan Keppen and Luke Cavallin.
“(General Manager Ted Dent) is a great hockey mind, and clearly an incredible coach”, said McParlan. “I can’t wait to get started and look forward to doing my best to continue the great work done in the past.”
