Soo Greyhounds General Manager Kyle Raftis announced today the signing and commitment of 2022 first round selection Christopher Brown to a Standard Player Agreement with the club.

‘We are excited to have received commitment from Christopher and his family to our program. Christopher is a tremendously skilled and creative forward who has an extremely high hockey IQ. He will be a great complement to our lineup. We look forward to partnering with Christopher in his development both on the ice and in the classroom’ commented Raftis.

Brown, a native of Toronto ON, played this past season with the North York Rangers U16 AAA hockey club. In 46 regular season games played, Brown recorded 19 goals and 41 assists, good for 60 points. The 5-foot-10, 156Ib. centreman was also participant in the 2022 GTHL Top Prospects Game.

Currently he is among 40 OHL prospects taking part in Canada’s National U17 Development Camp in Calgary, AB.

Brown, who was selected 16th overall in OHL Priority Selection this past April, had the following to say about joining the Program;

“I am extremely excited and honoured to be selected by Mr. Raftis to join the Soo Greyhounds and look forward to being a part of the Sault Ste. Marie community. A huge thank you to my parents, my brother, extended family, coaches and Rob Grant at Octagon for their support and encouragement throughout my hockey career.”

Brown will next be in Sault Ste. Marie in late August when the club opens training camp.
