The Vegas goaltending duo of Marc-Andre Fleury (36 games played) and Robin Lehner (19 games played) captured the William M. Jennings Trophy on Wednesday night. The Golden Knights allowed a league-low 124 goals against this season to overtake the New York Islanders (128) and claim the award. Lehner won the award with the Islanders in 2018-19.
Fleury posted the 67th shutout of his NHL career on Wednesday night. That moves him ahead of Patrick Roy and ties him with Roy Worters for 14th place on the league’s all-time list.
The big news off the ice was the firing of head coach David Quinn by the New York Rangers. The Rangers fired president John Davidson and general manager Jeff Gorton on May 5, so it’s not surprising that the changes continued. Assistants David Oliver, Greg Brown and Jacques Martin were also let go, but goaltending coach Benoit Allaire was retained.
The Seattle Kraken added the first player in franchise history with the signing of 21-year-old forward Luke Henman to a three-year, entry-level contract. He is currently playing in the QMJHL playoffs with Blainville-Boisbriand.

EDMONTON 4 MONTREAL 3 (OT)
The Oilers have a three-game win streak following a second straight 4-3 overtime victory over the Canadiens. Montreal’s 2020-21 season is completed and Edmonton has one more game left on Saturday against Vancouver.
Dominik Kahun potted the game winner just 27 seconds into the extra session.
Cole Caufield opened the scoring just 1:58 into the contest with his fourth goal in 10 games. He also added his first NHL assist in the match.
Nick Suzuki scored the the other two goals for the Canadiens, including a shorthanded marker in the first period.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins tied the game on the same power play less than a minute later.
Alex Chiasson also scored for the Oilers in the first frame and he assisted on the goal by Nugent-Hopkins.
Leon Draisaitl provided a power-play in the second stanza and he assisted on Kahun’s game winner.
Connor McDavid and Tyson Barrie contributed two assists apiece, while James Neal and Dmitry Kulikov added one helper each.
McDavid is up to a league-leading 104 points in 55 appearances. That includes an assist total of 71.
Barrie has 40 assists on the year and he currently leads all NHL defensemen in scoring with 48 points in 55 contests.
Mike Smith made 26 saves for his 21st win of the season.
Cayden Primeau stopped 18 of 22 shots in the defeat.
TORONTO 3 OTTAWA 4 (OT)
The Senators concluded the 2020-21 campaign with a win in overtime over the Maple Leafs. Ottawa won 10 of 14 games to conclude the year. Toronto has one game left before the playoffs.
Josh Norris’ 17th goal of the year came just nine seconds into the extra period. He finished a strong rookie season with 35 points in 56 games.
Nikita Zaitsev and Connor Brown (shorthanded) found the back of the net for Ottawa against their former team.
Parker Kelly scored the Senators’ other goal in his NHL debut.
Jake Muzzin had a goal (power play) and an assist in the contest.
John Tavares netted his 19th goal of the year late in the second stanza.
Auston Matthews potted the game-tying goal at 17:20 of the third period. His league-leading total currently stands at 41 markers.
Brady Tkachuk filled the stat sheet with one assist, four penalty minutes, six shots and six hits in 18:06 of ice time.
Alexander Kerfoot, William Nylander, Joe Thornton, Artem Anisimov, Shane Pinto and Erik Brannstrom picked up one helper each.
Frederik Andersen stopped 24 of 28 shots in the loss. It was his first NHL start since March 19 because of a lower-body injury.
Filip Gustavsson blocked 30 shots for his fifth victory of the 2020-21 campaign.

VEGAS 6 SAN JOSE 0
The Golden Knights wrapped up their regular-season schedule with a shutout win over the Sharks after dropping a 2-1 decision to Colorado on Monday.
Marc-Andre Fleury turned aside all 17 shots he faced for his 26th win and his sixth shutout of the season. He will go into the playoffs riding a nine-game win streak.
Alex Pietrangelo provided the game winner 3:52 into the first period.
Keegan Kolesar gave the Golden Knights a 2-0 lead shortly after Pietrangelo lit the lamp.
William Carrier and Jonathan Marchessault notched one goal and one assist each.
Dylan Sikura potted a pair of goals for his first points in six games this campaign. He had one NHL goal in 52 games going into the match.
Reilly Smith collected two assists, while Nicolas Roy, Mattias Janmark, William Karlsson, Alex Tuch, Zach Whitecloud, Brayden McNabb and Dylan Coghlan recorded one helper apiece.
Alexei Melnichuk stopped 38 of 44 shots in the defeat.
LOS ANGELES 0 COLORADO 6
The Avalanche won for a fourth straight time and stayed in the chase for the Presidents’ Trophy, which goes to the team with the best record in the regular season. If Colorado defeats the Kings on Thursday then they jump ahead of Vegas for top spot in the division and the league.
Philipp Grubauer blocked all 18 shots he faced for his 30th victory of the year and his seventh shutout.
J.T. Compher led the way offensively with the first hat trick of his NHL career. He reached the 10-goal plateau in the process.
Joonas Donskoi’s power-play marker at 14:43 of first frame held up as the game winner.
Pierre-Edouard Bellemare and Gabriel Landeskog also found the back of the net for the Avalanche.
Landeskog added an assist to give him 51 points, including 20 goals, in 53 matches.
Mikko Rantanen generated three assists in the match, while Devon Toews recorded two helpers.
Jayson Megna, Valeri Nichushkin, Kiefer Sherwood, Andre Burakovsky and Samuel Girard accounted for one assist apiece.
Cal Petersen stopped 31 of 37 shots in the loss.
MINNESOTA 0 ST. LOUIS 4
The Blues won for a second straight time and will finish the 2020-21 regular season on Thursday night with another matchup versus Minnesota. The Wild will place third in the West Division and St. Louis is already locked into fourth.
Ville Husso turned aside all 31 shots he faced for his first NHL shutout in his 15th start.
Ivan Barbashev provided the game winner at the 12:54 mark of the first frame.
Jaden Schwartz scored shortly later, while Torey Krug and David Perron rounded out the scoring in the second period.
Perron also added two helpers in the contest, while Krug picked up an assist for a multi-point performance.
Ryan O’Reilly, Brayden Schenn, Jordan Kyrou, Colton Parayko and Justin Faulk chipped in with one assist each.
Klim Kostin had a game-high six hits in his season debut.
Cam Talbot shielded 23 shots in the defeat.
Mats Zuccarello and Kirill Kaprizov had five shots on goal apiece.
