Former AHL Rookie of the Year Tyler Ennis Announces Retirement

2010 AHL Rookie of the Year Tyler Ennis has announced his retirement from professional hockey.

The Edmonton, Alberta, native played seven games in DEL with Adler Mannheim last season, he last played in North America with the Ottawa Senators in 2021-22.

Ennis posted the message and a highlight video on his personal Instagram account.

Ennis spent one season in the AHL with the now defunct Portland Pirates and recorded 65 points in 69 games, winning the Rookie of the Year, playing in the AHL All-Star Game, and was named to the AHL All-Rookie Team.

Originally a first round pick of the Buffalo Sabres in 2008, Ennis played 700 NHL games with the Sabres, Minnesota Wild, Toronto Maple Leafs, Edmonton Oilers, and Ottawa Senators, he scored 144 goals and recorded 346 points.

Throughout his career Ennis won the WHL Championship with the Medicine Hat Tigers and a World Junior and World Championship gold medal with Team Canada, he scored the game winning goal at the 2015 World Championship.
