Former Vegas Golden Knights centre Chandler Stephenson will be playing his first game against his old team tonight as Vegas travels to take on the Seattle Kraken.
The 30-year-old played five seasons with the Golden Knights, recording 327 games, 75 goals, 162 assists and 237 points. Stephenson was a part of the Washington Capitals team that beat the Golden Knights in the finals and was also apart of the Golden Knights’ 2023 Stanley Cup team.
Through 14 games with the Kraken, Stephenson has scored just one goal and nine points, struggling to make an impact at 5-on-5.

During his tenure with the Golden Knights, Stephenson was a dynamic playmaker, excelling at all facets of the game. He was just as dangerous on the penalty kill as he was at even strength or on the power play. He continued his efforts at becoming a leader with the Golden Knights and embarked on the next chapter of his life with the Kraken as an experienced veteran with lots of knowledge of what it takes to win a Stanley Cup.
In what can still be considered the young season, hasn’t started off the way he and the Kraken could have hoped for but if Stephenson finds his stride and gets rolling, his confidence will continue to grow and he can impact the game like Golden Knights fans know he can.
Without the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native, the Golden Knights penalty kill is killing just 75% of their opportunities, which has them ranked 24th in the NHL.
Tonight’s game may feel like a full circle moment for Stephenson but he knows the two points are vital, considering the Kraken have lost four in a row.
