Former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defenseman Dmitri Samorukov has signed a three-year deal with CSKA Moskva, it was reported Thursday.
Samorukov, a native of Volgograd, Russia, spent the 2023-24 season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, collecting five goals and ten assists for 15 points in 64 regular season games.
Drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the third round of the 2017 NHL Draft, Samorukov has appeared in three career NHL games but went pointless. Since 2019, Samorukov has also played in 236 career regular season AHL games, putting up 65 points.
As Samorukov heads back to Russia, this will be his second time suiting up for CSKA Moskva as he played in 48 games with the team back in 2020-21. Although he may not be relied upon for offense, he can still contribute when needed and will be a pain to play against in his own end.
