Generals hire Patrick Sexton as Assistant CoachOshawa, Ont. – The Oshawa Generals organization welcomes a new addition to the bench’s coaching staff, Patrick Sexton, who will fill the role of Assistant Coach. He will be joining Head Coach Steve O’Rourke, Assistant Coach Mike Farrugia, and Goaltending Coach, Mike Parson for the 2024/25 season.
“I’m very excited to join the Generals organization,” says Sexton. “The opportunity to work with one of the top organizations in the CHL was something I couldn’t pass up. I’m really looking forward to getting to work with the players and the entire staff as we pursue more OHL Championships and Memorial Cups.”
Sexton arrives in Oshawa following six seasons coaching in the British Columbia Hockey League. Between 2019 and 2022, he served as Assistant Coach for the Penticton Vees, guiding them through challenging COVID seasons and culminating in a Fred Page Cup Championship in 2022. From 2022-2024, Sexton served as the Head Coach of the Coquitlam Express in the BCHL where the team qualified for the playoffs in both seasons.
The Ottawa native brings a wealth of experience in both coaching and playing junior hockey. Between 2011 and 2013, Sexton competed in the Central Canada Hockey League with the Smiths Falls Bears. Subsequently, he joined the Vees for two seasons from 2013 to 2015, concluding as team Captain in his final year and guiding them to victory in the Fred Page Cup.
