The 28-year-old played 35 games last year scoring three goals and eight points. Before the 2023-24 season, Hickey had two loan spells with the Silver Knights. First in the 2021-22 season where he played 13 games and then the following year where he got into 17 games.
His familiarity with the team goes many years back and the trust both the organization has in him and he has in the organization is mutual.
The 2014 third-round pick hasn’t made his debut in the NHL yet but has been a player many AHL teams have utilized including the Rochester Americans, Chicago Wolves, Abbotsford Canucks and the Silver Knights.
The 6’2 left-handed defenseman won the Kelly Cup, awarded to the champions of the ECHL with the Florida Everblades during the 2022-23 season.
Hickey also has an international history as he represented Team Canada at the 2016 World Juniors while he was attending Boston University of the NCAA.
