We’re just a week away from the official start of summer. But as the weather gets warmer, there was still plenty of hockey content to enjoy this past week:
Jade Iginla Makes The Most Of Her International Debut
You’d be hard-pressed to find a better way to make your debut with a national team than Jade Iginla’s first goal for Canada at the women’s U-18 World Championship this past week.
An Iginla stepping up with a big goal? That definitely sounds familiar. Iginla wasn’t supposed to take part in the tournament due to an upper-body injury but was cleared by medical staff heading into the medal round, and she definitely showed up in a big way.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Wears A One Of A Kind Flames jersey
Speaking of Iginla… how about this?
Oklahoma City Thunder guard and Toronto native Shai Gilegeous-Alexander broke out a truly unique Flames jersey recently after being named GQ’s most stylish NBA player for 2022.
The Flames have to find a way to get Gilegeous-Alexander to a game at the Saddledome wearing that jersey because that’s one of the coolest ones around.
To Touch The Campbell Bowl or Not To Touch?
When the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Edmonton Oilers in the Western Conference final this past Monday, the post-game “should they touch it?” discourse went into full swing.
Most players avoid touching or even looking at the Campbell Bowl or the Prince of Wales Trophy because all they’re focused on is winning the big prize.
But fans? They think it’s goofy.
Watching numerous members of the Avalanche talking among themselves on whether or not they should touch the Clarence S. Campbell Bowl was hilarious. It was capped off by Nate MacKinnon being completely straight-faced for the picture with the trophy.
For the Avalanche superstar, it was beyond clear that the only trophy he wants to have a celebration with is the Stanley Cup, but the Avalanche need to beat the two-time defending Cup champions to make that work.
