With the 2024-25 NHL schedule public, Bleacher Report reviewed each team’s travel plans for the season.
The good news for the New York Islanders is that they are among the teams that will travel the fewest miles this upcoming season:
Looking at their schedule, the Islanders’ longest road trip of the year, where they venture to the Pacific Northwest in November. It will be a five-game trip that begins against the Edmonton Oilers and ends in the Motor City against the Detroit Red Wings.
Among other early trips, the team will make a three-game swing in the Midwest, stopping in Dallas, Colorado, and St. Louis. This will change the complexion of another visit to the West Coast, featuring matchups with the Vegas Golden Knights and Utah Hockey Club in January.
The team will also have a road-heavy stretch just before the Four Nations Cup break in February, making stops in Philadelphia, Florida, Winnipeg, and Minnesota with one home game in the middle.

Aside from their California trip in March, all games from January onward will be inside the Central Time Zone at the furthest, which could prove favorable late in the season.
All told, the team will clock in 36,300 miles on the road. Most notably, all seven other Metropolitan Division teams sit in the bottom half of the list, with the New Jersey Devils requiring the most at just under 40-thousand.
