Niagara, ON – The Niagara IceDogs have announced Michael Christou as the team’s Strength and Performance Coach for the upcoming 2022-23 season.
Mike Christou has a passion for the game of hockey and has been working with elite hockey players for many years. Coach Mike grew up in the sport locally and played at the University of Windsor where he won a Queen’s Cup in 2014. During this time, he developed a passion for strength and conditioning and saw it as an avenue to support and develop young athletes in ways he didn’t have as he grew up through the game.
Coach Mike is the Facility Manager and Partner at Limitless Training Systems Burlington, working daily with the IceDogs Performance Director Paul Ferri on bringing high-performing young athletes through the developmental stages of the game.
“I am big on the atmosphere created in the training space, as a Coach, it’s my job to ensure that the environment is challenging and purposeful, and where athletes are pushed but enjoy the benefits of getting better each day,” said Christou. “I am very excited to work alongside the team in Niagara and support the implementation of a top-tier performance program this season!”
When he’s not in the gym, you can find Coach Mike killing time powerlifting, reading, and trying new restaurants with his fiancee and new son Mack!
