The Niagara IceDogs announced Monday that Andrew Fritsch and Damon Racicot will join Head Coach Daniel Fitzgerald on the bench in 2022-23, both serving as Assistant Coaches.
Fritsch returns to Niagara having suited up for the IceDogs for parts of two seasons in 2009 and 2010. The Brantford, Ont. native went on to win an OHL championship with the Owen Sound Attack in 2011 before playing the final three seasons of his OHL career with the Soo Greyhounds. Fritsch graduated to attend St. Thomas University and Laurier University, playing men’s hockey at both schools. Since hanging up the skates, Fritsch has served in coaching positions with both the Brantford 99ers and Hamilton Huskies U16 AAA programs, and also worked as Skills Coach of both the Brantford 99ers of the OJHL as well as the Laurier Golden Hawks men’s hockey team.
“Andrew’s attention to detail and energy make him one of the best player development coaches around,” said Fitzgerald. “Our players will definitely benefit from his experience, knowledge, and coaching style.”

He also has past experience coaching at the Junior B level as well as the OHL/OHF Program of Excellence and all levels of minor hockey. The Ingersoll, Ont. native has contributed to the development of many players over the years through his work with Power Edge Pro on-ice training.
“Damon is a great hockey mind who invests in his players on and off the ice,” said Fitzgerald. “He is a relationship builder and is an invaluable piece of our coaching staff.”
“I’m excited to share many energy, passion and enthusiasm with the IceDogs organization,” said Racicot of the opportunity. “It’s a talented group of young players.”
