Jack Eichel’s point streak reached five games after the Vegas Golden Knights defeated Utah HC 4-2.
The Golden Knights found themselves in a 2-0 deficit early in the second period and were in need of a comeback. Eichel and Tomas Hertl took it upon themselves to step up and bring the Golden Knights back into the game. Hertl scored twice on the power play, with Eichel picking up assists on both markers.
The two assists extended Eichel’s streak to a season-high five games, picking up two goals and nine assists in that time. Thanks to this point streak, Eichel is up 27 points and sits in third among all NHLers, trailing just Colorado Avalanche’s Nathan MacKinnon and Minnesota Wild’s Kirill Kaprizov.
A lot of pressure has been put on Eichel to carry a heavy load offensively and he’s delivered. Even without Mark Stone for the previous four games, Eichel’s game has only improved. His goal-scoring hasn’t been at the level of previous years but his playmaking is the best it’s ever been.
The 27-year-old’s 82-game pace would see him score 24 goals, 106 assists and 130 points. Everyone’s believed that Eichel could be a superstar and has shown it in flashes due to an intense injury history but when healthy, Eichel is among the league’s best.
