(Greater Sudbury, ON) The Sudbury Wolves are pleased to announce that Slovakian defenceman Jakub Chromiak has committed to the hockey club.
“We are really happy to have Jakub commit to our team,” said Sudbury Wolves VP & General Manager Rob Papineau. “He is a great young defenceman who has already played important roles for his country. He was the captain for Slovakia at the Hlinka tournament this summer and he has been playing well in the men’s league in Slovakia this year. He is a strong two-way defender who has excellent vision and puck moving skills to go along with his great hockey sense.”

The Wolves selected Chromiak 7th overall in the 2022 CHL Import Draft this past summer. During the 2021-22 season, Chromiak played for the Slovakia U18 national team as well as for HK Dukla Trencin U20. In 19 regular season games, the 5’11, 186lbs defenceman had 5 goals, 5 assists, 31 PIM and was a plus 6. He also played 5 games for the HK Dukla Trencin in Slovakia’s top men’s league. Chromiak is projected to be a high pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. This past summer, he also played in three games at the World Juniors, notching one goal for Slovakia. Most recently, the 5’11”, 183lbs defenceman played for HK Dukla Trencin before making the decision to come to Sudbury.
Chromiak is expected to arrive in Sudbury this Saturday, while the Wolves are on the road as they head south to visit the Windsor Spitfires on Thursday at 7:05pm, Flint Firebirds on Saturday at 7:00pm and Saginaw Spirit on Sunday at 5:30pm.
