On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Kings announced their 2024-25 training camp roster, one day before camp stats on Thursday.
There were no big surprises amongst the names, Arthur Kaliyev might be a little surprising given how his last 9 months have gone in LA, but now signed he was a lock to come into camp.
How and where he’s used in camp will be interesting to watch.
It will also be a first look in the Kings organization for a few new faces like Warren Foegele, Tanner Jeannot and Joel Edmundson while Darcy Kuemper makes his return to LA.
There are also a handful of young players trying to stake a claim on the roster.
Alex Turcotte, Akil Thomas and Brandt Clarke are all near-locks for the roster, however, they’ll all be hoping to earn spots higher in the lineup with a strong camp.
Someone like Samuel Fagemo will also be looking to potentially steal a spot on the opening night roster if he can put together a strong camp.
The initial roster consists of 68 players and goalies, however, that will be cut down pretty quick.
A few recent draft picks like Jared Woolley and Carter George will likely go home early and a handful of camp invitees won’t be around for too long.
If you’re aren’t too interested in AHL only players, there are also a handful of players in AHL contracts you can more or less ignore.
The rookie faceoff showcase brought hockey back to LA and training camp keeps it going starting on Thursday.
