BABSON PARK, MASS. – A two-goal performance from Bailey Krawczyk ’24 would prove to not be enough for the Elmira College men’s ice hockey program as the Soaring Eagles fell to No. 11 Babson College on Friday in NEHC action.

JUST THE BASICS:
SCORE: Elmira 2, No. 11 Babson 4
LOCATION: Babson Park, Massachusetts | Babson Ice Arena
TEAM RECORDS: Elmira (8-7-1, 5-3-1 NEHC), Babson (11-4-2, 6-2-2 NEHC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Beavers opened the scoring at the 8:47 mark of the first period as a shot by Mike Stevens would elude Elmira goalkeeper Kyle Curtin ’26 to give Babson a 1-0 advantage. Elmira brought pressure offensively after falling behind and would eventually light the lamp with a power play goal at the 15:16 mark. Krawczyk would tally the equalizer for the Purple & Gold with the assists going to Amedeo Mastrangeli ’24 and Janis Vizbelis ’24.

The score would remain deadlocked 1-1 until Babson tallied a goal on the power play at the 12:43 mark of the second period. Elmira would answer again to knot the score as Krawczyk energized the Purple & Gold with an unassisted short-handed tally at the 15:52 mark to make it 2-2. The contest appeared headed for the third period with the score knotted 2-2 before the Beavers beat the buzzer with a goal at the 19:49 mark to make it 3-2.

The Soaring Eagles would be unable to complete the comeback in the final frame as Babson added an insurance goal at the 3:15 mark of the third period to stretch its lead to 4-2. Elmira would get a pair of chances on the power play in the period but couldn’t convert with the extra skater down the stretch.

Curtin was handed with the loss for the Soaring Eagles after making 26 saves in the contest for Elmira. In net for the Beavers, Nolan Hildebrand turned away 28 shots to earn the victory for Babson.
