Kyle Curtin Named New England Hockey Conference Goaltender of the Week

by admin

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) announced its weekly award winners on Monday, with Kyle Curtin ’26 earning Goaltender of the Week accolades for Men’s Ice Hockey. Skidmore’s Everett Wardle and Connor Wood were named the NEHC Player and Rookie of the Week.

The St. George, Ontario native notched his second career shutout on Saturday for the Soaring Eagles and went 2-0-0 over the weekend while surrendering only one goal to go along with 61 saves.

Curtin opened his weekend for the Purple & Gold by stopping 19 of the 20 shots that he faced in a 6-1 victory at home against Johnson & Wales on Friday night. He made six stops in the first and third periods while adding seven saves in the second period for the Soaring Eagles. Curtin also found his way onto the scoresheet with an assist on Carter Wisely’s empty-net goal in the third period.
Saturday’s performance would see Curtin match his career-best with 42 saves in a 4-0 victory against UMass Boston inside the Murray Athletic Center. The highlight of his night would come in the second period as he turned away 21 shots taken by UMass Boston as the Soaring Eagles would fight off three power-play opportunities by the Beacons in the frame.

This is the second weekly accolade for Curtin after garnering Goaltender of the Week honors earlier this season for the Purple & Gold.

The Soaring Eagles (11-9-1, 8-5-1 NEHC) currently sit fourth in the NEHC standings and are one point behind Babson, who is 8-5-2 with one more game played than Elmira. The Soaring Eagles hit the road this weekend for a pair of NEHC matchups against Castleton on Friday and Skidmore on Saturday. Elmira enters the weekend one point ahead of Skidmore in the standings with one more game played than the Thoroughbreds.
