A look at what Zamula brings to Flyers, York’s big night with Phantoms originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia

The Flyers (22-19-7) on Tuesday play their second of four straight games against the Devils (14-27-7).

Let’s get into the essentials for the game:

  • When: 7 p.m. ET with The Warm Up at 6 p.m. ET and Flyers Pregame Live at 6:15 p.m. ET

  • Where: Prudential Center

  • Broadcast: NBC Sports Philadelphia

  • Live stream: NBCSportsPhiladelphia.com and the NBC Sports MyTeams app

• As the Flyers continue their evaluation for next season, they’ll take their latest peek at a young roster candidate when Egor Zamula makes his NHL debut tonight.

Zamula will be the fifth Flyer to make his debut this season and the fourth this month. Cam York’s debut could be coming down the pike; the 2019 first-round pick had a three-point game (one goal, two assists) Monday night in his fourth outing with AHL affiliate Lehigh Valley.

The Phantoms are back it Wednesday night. After Tuesday night, the Flyers will have seven games left.

More: Flyers will not place yield signs on speed of York’s climb to NHL

The 6-foot-3, 177-pound Zamula is an undrafted defensemen who has developed into one of the club’s better prospects in its system. He brings smarts and a smoothness on the back end. He’ll add to the youthfulness, as well.

Here are the ages of the Flyers’ defensemen tonight:

  • Justin Braun — 34

  • Robert Hagg — 26

  • Travis Sanheim — 25

  • Ivan Provorov — 24

  • Philippe Myers — 24

  • Egor Zamula — 21

Some of the Flyers’ young defensemen have experienced growing pains this season while the Flyers have underachieved.

“If times are going tough for them, you tell them about the times you had and how rough they got,” Braun said. “Just stick with it and it will turn around. It’s a mentally tough league, too, you get a lot of downtime by yourself and it kind of eats at you after a bad game. You try to build them up a little bit as you can to try and get their confidence back, and back to the way you think they can play.”

• A fatal flaw of the Flyers this season has been their inability to string together wins or any positives.

Since the start of March, in games after a victory, the Flyers have gone 1-9-0 and been outscored 52-21.

The Flyers have a chance to win consecutive games after rallying past the Devils, 4-3, in a shootout Sunday.

New Jersey, on the other hand, has lost 10 straight games and are 1-11-3 in its last 15.
