Make it four straight losses for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
And indisputably, what makes things worse is the fact that the Leafs held leads in all four of those contests.
Yeah, the sky’s starting to fall.
We kicked off the Wednesday edition of Leafs Morning Take by drowning the sorrows of Leafs Nation. This team is broken right now. There’s not much more to say. A change is needed, but unfortunately, nothing’s probably coming.
Presented by Door Dash, The Appetizer focused on Toronto’s 4-2 loss in Edmonton on Tuesday night. For the third time in four outings, the Leafs blew a two-goal lead. Why does that continue to happen is the big question? On top of that, we played the blame game. Who deserves to take the most heat for the team’s latest swoon? So many questions right now.
Meantime, thanks to our friends over at BATL Axe, ahead of Toronto’s visit to Calgary on Thursday night, former Leaf/Flame Matt Stajan dropped by. We got his thoughts on the present-day team, being teammates with Rosey, and what it was like playing for the legendary Pat Quinn. On top of that, we had him dish on the big Dion Phaneuf trade in 2010, one that saw Stajan land in Calgary.
Speaking of which, we gave our thoughts on the Leafs/Flames game —two teams going in opposite directions right now. Toronto’s lost four in a row while the Flames have won four straight contests. On top of that, Brad Treliving will make his highly anticipated return to Calgary after parting ways with the organization last spring. He spent nine years there.
We’re mixing things up for the Thursday edition of Leafs Morning Take. Both Rosey and I will be missing in action. Instead, be sure to join Carter Hutton and Anthony Stewart at 11 AM ET for a full preview and dissection of what’s been happing lately.
