Flint, Mich. – The Flint Firebirds announced today that 2023 third-round pick Max Anderson has committed to an Ontario Hockey League standard player agreement with the club.

“It feels amazing to sign with such a great organization,” Anderson said. “I have been dreaming of this day since I was a little kid. I can’t wait to play in front of (the fans) and to get started.”

“We’re happy to welcome Max and his family to our Firebird family,” Head Coach and General Manager Ted Dent said. “He’s another dynamic forward from our 2023 draft class that we believe will be a contributing piece to our future success as a hockey club”

Anderson was selected by the Firebirds in the third round (57th overall) and played his U16 season with newly committed Jimmy Lombardi and the Don Mills Flyers this past year. The 5-foot-9, 145-pound center produced 8 G and 2 A in 16 GP with the Flyers and added 2 G in 4 GP at the OHL Cup.

“My experience with Flint has been amazing from the development camp to how the coaches and players have treated me,” Anderson added. “Seeing the facility and meeting everyone in person was awesome.”

Anderson joins both Lombardi and first-round pick Jeremy Martin from the 2023 OHL Priority Selection to commit to the Firebirds giving Flint commitments from the first three rounds. The Stouffville, Ont. native will wear number-22 with Flint.

Scouting Report from Head Scout Mike Oliverio: “Max plays the game with a high level of compete and tenacity. He also possesses the skill and ability to be a very versatile piece anywhere in our lineup. He plays at a high pace and is relentless in his puck pursuit.”
