Here’s a closer look at Saturday’s action across the Premier Hockey Federation during the second weekend of the 2022-23 regular season schedule.
Toronto Six 3, Metropolitan Riveters 6
For the second straight day the Premier Hockey Federation debuted a new facility as the Metropolitan Riveters opened the doors to The Rink at American Dream. Sarah Bujold scored the team’s historic first goal, a short handed marker and one of her two tucks in a three-point performance. Kelly Babstock also scored twice with an assist, and Madison Packer chipped in two goals to lead the home side’s offensive bust. Emma Woods had a three-point performance for Toronto with a goal and two assists, while Kati Tabin and top scorer Brittany Howard added singles. Rachel McQuigge picked up her first career PHF victory with 27 saves.
Boston Pride 5, Minnesota Whitecaps 4 OT
Sammy Davis scored twice including the overtime winner to extend Boston’s winning-streak to a perfect four-straight to start the season. Kali Flanagan and Taylor Wenczkowski scored singles, as did captain Jillian Dempsey who has a point in all four games. Minnesota captain Sydney Brodt tallied twice including the first Whitecaps goal at Richfield Ice Arena. Anna Klein also scored her first in the PHF, while Jonna Albers tied the game with a third period breakaway goal for her second point of the night. Corinne Schroeder’s shutout streak ended at 183:15, but the newcomer’s 29 saves earned her a fourth straight victory.
