David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period claims the Vegas Golden Knights and Adin Hill haven’t begun contract negotiations.
Jake Oettinger signed an eight-year, $8.25M contract extension with the Dallas Stars earlier this morning and he is one of the many goaltenders to come to an agreement on contract extensions in the last couple of weeks.
Hill is in the final year of his two-year, $9.8 million contract and is the decided-on number-one goaltender in Vegas after Logan Thompson was moved in the offseason. Hill has never played a regular season as a number one netminder but was the only goalie to appear in a game during their Stanley Cup triumph in 2022-23.
This season is Hill’s first as a starter and will be looking to be paid for his efforts.

During the latest edition of “Game Day” on The Fourth Period, Pagnotta reported that contract negotiations have not yet gotten underway between the Knights and Hill’s representatives.
“I talked to both sides this morning after Oettinger’s deal, (and) nothing has been going on this point, there’s nothing imminent,” Pagnotta said. “Conversations are expected to pick up in and around the New Year. Now, maybe Oettinger’s deal escalates things, but as of this morning, that’s kind of the mindset that they’ll tackle this towards the second half of the season, maybe just prior to it.”
According to Puckpedia, the Golden Knights have over $25.3M in cap space for the 2025-26 season with Hill, Ilya Samsonov, Shea Theodore, Brayden McNabb, Brett Howden, Keegan Kolesar and Tanner Pearson on expiring UFA contracts. Cole Schwindt, Nicolas Hague, Brendan Brisson and Alexander Holtz are on expiring RFA contracts.

GM Kelly McCrimmon will have a lot to handle next offseason and could benefit from getting deals like Hill’s completed during the season.
