Nottingham Panthers netminder Alex Dubeau took centre stage in the sixth week of the Elite League season, albeit not for his work between the pipes. He was handed a five-game suspension on Saturday [15 October] after pushing a match official in his team’s 4-2 loss to the Dundee Stars.

But it wasn’t all bad news for the Elite League’s latest crop of goaltenders: Jackson Whistle produced one of the saves of the season in a shutout win for the Belfast Giants over the Coventry Blaze.

Elsewhere in the Elite League, the Sheffield Steelers enjoyed a four-point weekend with wins over the Cardiff Devils and Fife Flyers. They rise to the division’s summit as a result.
It was a fun week in the National League, with the Bristol Pitbulls beating the Swindon Wildcats in the first South-West Derby of the season. There were also big wins for the Leeds Knights and Milton Keynes Lightning.
