Three-time Stanley Cup Champion and former Pittsburgh Penguin Phil Kessel has finally signed a contract.
But not the NHL kind.

On Thursday, Kessel announced that he has signed on as a brand ambassador and competitor for the World Poker Tour (WPT) Global:
Kessel will participate in the WPT Playground in Montreal this week, and he’s giving fans a chance to meet him in an exclusive event on Monday, Oct. 14.

Kessel was traded from the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Penguins in the summer of 2015, and he spent four seasons in Pittsburgh. Over those four seasons, Kessel registered 110 goals and 303 points in 328 games and won back-to-back Stanley Cups in 2016 and 2017.
After spending three seasons in Arizona, he won one more Cup with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2023, which was the last time he played in the NHL.
Over the course of his 17-year NHL career, Kessel recoreded 413 goals and 992 points in 1,286 games. He also holds the NHL’s “Iron Man” record at 1,064 consecutive games played, and he is the only player in NHL history to play more than 1,000 games in a row.
