The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed winger Rickard Rakell to a six-year deal with a cap hit of $5 million.
Rakell joined the Pittsburgh Penguins at the trade deadline, recording 13 points in 19 regular season games. An injury limited him to just two playoff games, where he failed to hit the scoresheet. Rakell had a career-high 69 points with the Anaheim Ducks in 2017-18 and has recorded at least 40 points on six occasions.
Rakell gives the Penguins some secondary scoring depth that they need, especially with the uncertain future of pending UFA Evgeni Malkin.
The Penguins have $15.3 million in cap space with 16 skaters signed. The Penguins currently have six UFAs and one RFA, according to Cap Friendly.
